ABOUT
WILLIE STEWART
A global music icon, William "Willie" Stewart, OD, needs no introduction to music aficionados. Perhaps best known as the original drummer of the world-renowned Inner Circle band and, subsequently the master percussionist and drummer of THIRD WORLD band, Willie belongs to a rarified group of Jamaican musicians affectionately known as the “Reggae Ambassadors” of Jamaica.
To be sure, during his near-22 years with THIRD WORLD, from 1976 to 1997, alongside lead guitarist/cellist Stephen (Cat) Coore, keyboardist Michael (Ibo) Cooper, percussionist Irving (Carrot) Jarrett, bassist Richard (Richie) Daley, and vocalist William "Bunny Rugs" Clarke, Willie Stewart became a household name, not just within Jamaica and the Jamaican diaspora but beyond.
It is fair to say that THIRD WORLD achieved its greatest creative heights over the 22 years that the six members named above remained integral to the core of the band. During that time, they created 13 albums — including five (5) Grammy-nominated projects — with global hits like "Now That We Found Love,” their 1978 reggae cover of the soulful hit by the legendary and prolific Philadelphia creatives, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, as well as their 1982 hit "Try Jah Love" written for them by Stevie Wonder.
Since that time, Willie has been actively involved in fulfilling the vision of his Embrace Music Foundation, following the call of the Spirit in a new direction and an overwhelming conviction to give back and pay it forward to the next generation what had been so graciously — and he believes, divinely — bestowed upon him.
"Willie Stewart & Friends" is the latest iteration of Willie's illustrious career. Indeed, Willie joins forces now with legendary music icons, each of whom has left their individual mark on the music scene, not just in Jamaica but also internationally. Their first official single, "Have a Little Faith," released on February 6, 2026 to rave reviews. Indeed, the collaboration represents a rare historic coming together of Jamaican musical voices whose collective influence spans generations.
One hundred percent —100% — of the royalties generated from “Have a Little Faith” will go to the Humanitarian Music Initiative for Jamaica's economic recovery in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, which struck the island on October 28, 2025.
Wille Stewart & Friends will perform "Have a Little Faith" live for the first time at Wille's Embrace Music Foundation's 13th annual flagship Rhythms of Africa — "Run Di Riddim - Every Beat for Jamaica" — concert on April 18 and 19, 2026 at the Miramar Cultural Center in Florida. In partnership with the City of Miramar and hosted by the city’s mayor, Wayne Messam, the program will feature approximately 40 students from Somerset Academy Central Miramar High School, who are currently in training under Willie’s direct tutelage, and will showcase their new-found percussion skills alongside nationally and internationally recognized guest artists, musicians and dancers.
Willie has been married to his wife Carol for 53 years, They have six children — five girls and one boy — Lisa, Kezia, Sara, Alieka, Monea and Leea.
William "Willie" Stewart, O.D. receiving the People Profile Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday July 13th 2025 at the Broward Center for The Performing Arts.

WHAT OUR FANS SAY

Andrene Bonner, Author
'Have a Little Faith' is an appeal to our shared humanity. This recording is a gathering of our collective consciousness, voices, working in harmony, to achieve our highest good...
Every voice in this ensemble articulates its unique timbre; every instrument takes its rightful place inside the piece—there is no clamoring for ascendency. The choir complements this performance with its textured layer, sonorous heft, and richness. Ulysses weaves his R&B vocal cadence throughout the song intersecting with reggae rhythms, drums grounding ancestral retentions, while the strings bring a special kind of sweetness.
Dwisdom’s vocal delivery is pure energy; it carries the hope that if we trust in the power of faith, “It will make it right.” JC Lodge, Gem Myers, Carlene Davis—with such joy, deliver serene balance. If you are familiar with their individual signature sounds, close your eyes and just listen, they are like one voice. Leroy Sibbles takes us to heights with his falsetto, crowning the frequency in this masterpiece.
'Have A Little Faith' is a whole lot of faith. Willie Stewart makes himself a portal for this dynamic composition of hope, an anthem from the heart and soul of Jamaica. Its reach is sure to bring healing to a hurting island and the world.

'Have a Little Faith' is more than music — it is inheritance. From the first notes, you can hear intention, care, and a deep respect for both people and place. What stands out immediately is the caliber of artistry brought together here. The voices, the musicianship, the restraint — nothing is forced, nothing is ornamental. Each contribution feels purposeful, unified by a shared understanding that this project is in service of something larger than individual expression. It is rare to hear a collaboration that feels so coherent and so generous at the same time.
There is also a quiet but powerful continuity at work. As a former drummer of Third World, Willie Stewart carries forward a tradition that has always understood music as both message and medicine. In that lineage — shaped by giants like Ibo Cooper and, now, in remembrance of Cat Coore, whose passing we feel deeply — this song stands as a living continuation of their values: excellence, consciousness, and responsibility to humanity.
This project honors that legacy beautifully. It does not imitate the past; it extends it. You can feel the elders smiling in the sound — proud not only of the music, but of the purpose behind it.
Most of all, this record reminds us of what Jamaican music has always done at its best: bring people together, offer hope without naïveté, and translate faith into action. As a humanitarian offering, it is sincere. As an artistic achievement, it is elegant and enduring.

When you listen to ‘Have a Little Faith’ by Willie Stewart & Friends again, and again, and again, you are reminded that music is power and, unlike us, will never die. It not only moves and stirs, but also uplifts and inspires.
In collaboration with some of the Musical Greats of Jamaica, ‘Have a Little Faith’ transports you to a space of belief that all troubles are temporary and that, by turning to your neighbor, family, even within, and ultimately to a higher power, your faith will overcome all trials.
The musicality is infectious and addictive, masterfully mixed and rendered. The lyrics don’t just entertain, they enrich and move, almost like a hymn but not really.
In the wake of so much loss – human and material -- within recent times, Jamaica, and more so the world, needs an anthem to heal and progress. This is it. Once you play it, you can’t let it go, for it soothes and stimulates.
‘Have a Little Faith’ will become part of your personal library, the song you turn to when you want comforting voices to remind you that having a little faith will get you through the day.
